Some 5 plus years ago, a really good friend of mine "Boris" :-)  Well he said to translate this song and it was the very first time I heard this track and fell in love with it. Fidel Nadal is a reggae singer from Argentina and I-Nesta is from my home country of Panama. This song means so much to me and my family. My brother specially; plays this song so many times per week, but it never gets old for him. Because what this song does to the spirit is priceless. I'm just trying to spread the vibes and elevate love. Enjoy it!

Ruben Blades - Vida = Life

Hello internet world! :-) It has been a while since I translated anything and I'm slowly getting back to it. This one became a favorite recently. I think the lyrics are powerful and inspiring. I really love Ruben Blades and I feel this won't be the first of the last song I translate of his. Salsa is life for me and Ruben has done it better than anyone. His lyrics have a mission and my love for it tells me I must share. So here I am :-) Hope you all enjoy it!

The Mother of Salsa for me. Celia Cruz was just that. I felt her love and her warmth. Her happiness is still inside me and I can't help but shed a tear when I hear her songs in my car and remember that she is now gone. I never met her. I did go to some shows with my parents in Panama while I was young; but I don't care. I love her! :-) The lyrics of her songs teach and bring wisdom with them. It's one of my favorite recipes for Salsa. I was going to translate another song of hers; but I came across this one and it's another favorite for me. Plus, it represents my current state. How could I not translate this track? it's one of my favorite songs and somehow after screaming my heart out, I feel better. Music is therapy and Adele is the master of emotions. Every time I hear her sing I think "yeap, she went through that". and it makes you think about those relationships where hearts were broken. It happens to the best of us. Enjoy!

On my way to work this song came up on the radio and I thought "wow, I actually went into a CD store and bought that CD". It was probably the last time I went into a music store. Oh sweet teenage years, but this CD was a precious piece. I've always loved Marc Anthony and the songs he chooses to sing. So full of passion and truth that I'm automatically drawn to it. The orchestra on this track is just awesome, pure and skillful at playing salsa. I went on looking for the translation and they were all missing the best part. Us Panamanians call it "El Pregon". So I took my time to translate those. Pregones are a summary to the whole song. The summary to what we just learned. Enjoy it :-)

Ruben Blades - Amor Y Control = Love & Control

Translating another one of my favorite songs from "The Salsa Poet" "El Poeta de la Salsa" Ruben Blades. If anyone ever asks you who is the poet of salsa; now you know. There is no one else in the world with that title; and rightfully so. Ruben Blades has an amazing talent for writing and story telling. This is what makes his music so enchanting. I can honestly say that I cry every time I hear this song and I too think about my family and what it means to be part of one. I got teary eye watching this video and watching him get emotional before performing this song. He is telling a story of a couple that bought tickets to go watch him that night. The couple was having their 17th year anniversary, but his wife died and her husband asked him to sing this song. This is another Panama anthem that makes me feel at home. Enjoy and love your family! No matter what!

I just had to translate this song. It's one of those lyrics where I can relate to all of it. I'm sure we all could. Mana is just a band I grew up listening to and always vibe to. The lead singer Fher Olvera is just so amazing, his voice has always hit a special chord within me. Adding Shakira to this song was completely amazing for me because I love her voice, specially when she sings in Spanish. This translation is dedicated to my son Ethan.
